Only launched at the end of 2008 the RackPac has already won critcical recognition for its unique concept.
The RackPac beat off stiff competition from Tesco to scoop the Drinks Retailing Award for Innovation 2009. The judges notes said it all:
" It's truism of product development that the simple ideas are usually the best, and so it is with the RackPac, an instant wine rack that's supplied with wine ordered by mail order.
The RackPac combines the courier packaging for the wine with a fold-out wine rack that can be used to store he wine once it's arrived in the home.
Not only does it enhance the presentation of wine sent through the post, it solves the problem of what to do with the redundant packaging mail-order customers are left to dispose of.
It's a suitably green idea for the modern business world, but also has practical benefits for the wine merchant.
The boxes have a stackable design and are suitable for standard wine bottles or Champagne-shaped ones.
The RackPac is light in weight, ensure safe transit of wine, is fully brandable in any print colour, is made from recycled material and can be reused as a courier package as well as in its wine rack form.
And if all that wasn't enough, the cost is the same for a standard six-bottle postal box. Barrels & Bottles is now working on a second-generation carry-home version, so watch this space."
